with every passing second the excitement is building. >> we have a team covering villanova's march to victory. from the fans to the celebration, preparations to the game itself. >> that guy on the left, the perfect person to kick off coverage. keith jones live at nrg stadium. let's see your hands, are they shaking or steady? >> they are okay for now. you know what, the nerves are high. there's a lot of energy from villanova fans i spoke with this morning. if you look behind me now you saw that, right here, hundreds if not thousands of unc fans and 90 fans have filtered into fan fest. there is a concert going on. a lot of skills competitions, a lot of shooting, and of course a lot of blue. the villanova kind and the unc kind. speaking of villanova blue, i wanted you to look at this. moments ago john clark texted me he ran into rollie massimino, meeting up with of course the 1985 team that he coached, a lot
6:01 pm
of those players came back. this isn't the first time they have come back. as a matter of fact, attended many of the games. they are a tight knit group having pulled off that upset against georgetown. 66, 64 again. 1985. that's the way that all of villanova fans remember it. hopefully 2016 is just like that. we're going to catch up with john clark at 7:00 p.m. for our special, villanova, march to victory and have more on what it was like for rollie to have that reunion. i want to go right now back home to the mainline to bryn-mawr where nbc 10's denise nakano is at another happening place. houston is going to be rocking but i bet kelly's there on the main line is going to be busy. >> reporter: oh, my gosh, that is an understatement. it's already busy. they are opening to a capacity crowd. some standing out here since 2:00 this afternoon and if you
6:02 pm
didn't get here early you're not going to get in. we have people waiting hoping to make it through the door. forget that the game is hours away. i met some students started scoping out a place in line since last night. the crowd started to build around 2:00 this afternoon, some seven hours benefit gametime. the line stretched around the kelly's tap room on lancaster and on to water street. we spoke to some students who were at the end of the line keeping hopes high for a villanova win, and for getting through the door. >> it's a place to be right now. it's going to be amazing. >> we wish we got here earlier. we're still waiting. >> reporter: those students did make it in and as you can see, there are other hopefuls in the rain as they slowly move toward the front of the line. some of the fans were here for the final four on saturday. and they have come back hoping to see villanova make it all the way. they are in good company, keith.
6:03 pm
>> reporter: no question. denise in front of kelly's. there is a watch party at the pavilion. saturday night the win against oklahoma a lot of students filtered out, they filled up lancaster avenue of it they had to shut it down, shut down the blue route at exit 13 so this is huge. you can feel the energy in houston. we're going to continue to bring you the behind the scenes, join us at 7:00 for a special, villanova, march to victory out front here at the nrg stadium. we'll show you what rallies are going on and i'll be joined by john clark as we continue to show you before the national championship kicks off at 9:19. for now i'm a happy villanova fan live in houston, keith jones, "nbc 10 news." >> 7:00 maybe donning some other piece of gear. >> it's nerve-racking. >> stay calm. fun to watch. >> i'm doing my best. >> thanks, keith. don't forget to show us your

6:05 pm
the rain. but the rain right now in some areas is kind of heavy especially through philadelphia and wilmington and the major interstates. so not good timing, right in the middle of the evening rush. very slow going i'm sure on 95, areas like 676, 295. this is a lot of heavy rainfall where the reds and oranges and yellows are. we're seeing that across philadelphia, morristown into burlington county moving through the philadelphia area so it will continue to slide into new jersey. but areas like wilmington continuing to see that heavier rainfall and it's only going to get heavier for will ming son. you notice the darker shades moving into northern new castle county, crossing the major interstates likes 495 and 95. this stretches down into baltimore and washington. so now we're going to really track this line of heavier shower, that's going to move into areas like symrna, dover 7:00, milford at 7:35 and atlantic city by 8:00 p.m. we still have quite a few hours
6:06 pm
left of this rainfall moving in and again i showed you the reds and oranges that shows us the heavier rain. this line of rain is moving west to east. we'll continue to see it move through new jersey and delaware the next few hours, but areas north and west of philadelphia, pretty much drying out at this point. now this is all poart of a biggr storm system. the snow is timely starting to move out of new england. we're only going to deal with the rain from this but once the rain moves through it's going to get a lot colder. so future weather taking the rain, mostly moving into new jersey and delaware by 7:00 become. then a couple hours later most should be gone by about 8, 9:00. then colder, we have a freeze warning out for part of the area. i'll show you who can expect that coming up. no criminal charges for former eagle lasean mccoy being investigated for that bar fight that involved two off-duty philadelphia police officers. this video shows the chaos that
6:07 pm
unfolded back in february at the recess lounge. two off-duty police officers were hurt. according to the drix attorney it started over a bottle of champagne. there were conflicting accounts of what happened. we had no sufficient evidence who initiated it, we had evidence that would conclude that people could conclude that people were being justified in trying to protect their friend. >> we believe this was enough charge there is to warrant an arrest, everybody else that was involved in the case also believed that. >> the union is looking at different legal options moving forward. the video shows that there was construction equipment on the track and work train equipment on the track immediately adjacent to the

amtrak train track. >> that's what the ntsb had to say about 30 minutes ago about the deadly train derailment. tim has an update. tim? >> reporter: theyñi wrapped up that briefing. a little more information in the final moments before that crash. take a look, the ntsb says that southbound train was traveling at 106 miles per hour at the time of the collision just under the 110 speed limit. the engineer put the train into emergency mode five seconds before. it wasn't enough to reduce the severity of the impact, the operator of the backhoe and another veteran amtrak employee were killed. the camera recorded everything. we know at that time the crew was working with an equipment lane that basically picks up the gravel from up ter the track. i'm told that this is considered
6:09 pm
a fairly routine operation. the ntsb says something in the process didn't work as it was supposed to. >> we have secured all of the communication downloads and equipment and will be reviewing that. i have to stress that there is a lot of data and a lot of information that investigators in our laboratory in washington, d.c. will be sifting through. >> reporter: i'm told the investigation could take months. we got the names of the two killed, joe carter from wilmington, delaware and peter adamovich. we can tell you that tomorrow interviews are going to begin with all of the people who survived the crash and could give information through the ntsb. tim furlong, "nbc 10 news." next on "nbc 10 news" at 6, a new twist in the battle of control of atlantic city. >> preparing for the party, what
